Hello beautiful wonderful people. It is I, Christy Ku, finally returning to this Substack tab that’s been open for months. Here’s some things that you may find interesting:
We’re in a new tax year! I did a post on what you should do to prepare and save yourself stress.
For a full guide on doing your taxes as a freelancer, here’s my free/pay what you can resource pack!
My portrait photography books are open for a few more months! I specialise in working with people who hate having their photo taken.
This is the wonderful Suyin Haynes, former Head of Editorial at gal-dem (may that publication rest in peace). She got in touch with me and I took photos for her, her mum and their business The Caring Touch!
Thank you very much Suyin for trusting me and letting me part of her new beginnings!
If you’d like to work with me, please reply to this email or see this form for more info!
I’m opening slots for people who want to work on their public speaking skills! If you want to boost your confidence, drop me a line here! I can work with you one-to-one or lead sessions for larger groups.
I’ve had years of experience speaking on panels, hosting events, doing spoken word poetry, acting, running workshops etc and would love to help you find ways to manage any nerves or fear.
I wrote this poem in dedication to Key Huy Quan, to Asian artists in general, to all those who overcame and to those who didn’t.
I’m in Issue 4: Food of the glorious Zindabad Zine! My poem ‘What Do Angels Eat?’ is there alongside wonderful illustrations, photography, articles and other poems. Thank you to Cia Mangat for including my work!
You can order your copy here.
I wrote a very personal article for Issue 12 of ‘Oh Reader’. It’s on my past and how I didn’t have a very good time to say the least. Big thank you to Gemma Peckham for taking on my story and for handling it with such tenderness.
You can order your copy here.
For any Ted Lasso fans - you can see me in Season 3 Episode 3!
And finally - I cut and donated 41cm of my hair to The Little Princess Trust! They’re a charity that makes wigs for children and young people who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments, leukaemia and other conditions.
We also managed to raise £120 for them so they can make the wigs! The fundraiser is still open if you’d like to pop any donations in.
